ANNUAL DAY
Mr. Vineet Joshi, Chairman of CBSE, was the
chief guest of this gala event. The evening began with the Annual Exhibition
where the students displayed their creativity and innovative skill in the form
of various models based on the central theme of the exhibition, “Man and
Mankind”. Mr. S. Ragunathan graced the exhibition as the chief guest and Prof.
Maheshwari was the guest of honour. Every subject had its own corner where new
ideas were splendidly displayed. The English department presented a one-act
play as a part of the exhibition which included the famous fictitious villains
including Dracula, Voldemort amongst many others.
The cultural extravaganza started off with the melodious school
orchestra. The members of the management and the principal, Ms. Meenu Goswami,
lit the ceremonial lamp while the 12 standard students sung the school song. Following
it was the invocation which was a dance devoted to Lord Hanuman, the mighty
monkey God. The dance was an elaborate amalgam of Thaiyyam, Kathakali and the
north Indian style of dance. The dance also included use of lit torches to show
the devotion to the great God. It was marked by intricate and graceful poses
that awed the audience. Succeeding the poised invocation was a lovely ballet by
the tiny tots of the Montessori department who charmed everyone with their
nimble movements in the story of a black butterfly. The ballet, though
told in an elementary manner, spread a message that is very relevant in today’s
times – we must not discriminate on the basis of colour or any kind of physical
appearance. This was followed by the primary ballet which was a depiction
of how the Sun Temple at Konark came into being. This was followed
by the prize distribution ceremony where the achievers were lauded for their
performances in academics, sports and co-curricular activities. Also, the
principal read out the annual report in which she talked about the school’s
achievements and what all the school had achieved in its glorious history of 25
years. Mr. Vineet Joshi handed over the prizes to the meritorious
students and also addressed the gathering, stressing on the importance of
overall development of a child. The vote of thanks was given by Mr. L. R.
Channa, Vice President, Child Education Society. Also, during this
ceremony, the school’s 25 year’s special souvenir magazine was realeased in an
elaborate ribbon cutting ceremony by Mr. Vineet Joshi. This appreciation of students
was followed by the senior ballet, ‘Nav Jagriti’, an adaptation of Jim
Stovall’s ‘The Ultimate Gift’. The theme song marked the finale of this
extravaganza where students from all the four departments came together on one
stage to create magic by their singing and dancing. The fireworks display from
the terrace of the school awed everyone present and made the diyas in the hands of all the
participants glow like stars on the stage.
The show was a huge success and marked the beginning of a new dawn under the leadership of Ms. Meenu Goswami .
