INTERNATIONAL ACTIVITIES AND EXCHANGE PROGRAMS |
1. The school has developed a partnership with Mirani State High School, Queensland, Australia. The students of the two schools have been interacting in an exchange of their respective lifestyles, climate changes and ecological concerns through an online learning space created specially for the two partner schools.
2. The students of BBPS, Pitampura and Mirani State High School, Australia are currently involved in a wall suggestions activity, wherein they have conducted garbage management surveys in their own schools, followed by a Collaborative Suggestion Tree Activity. The students of the two schools are contributing ideas about saving the environment.
3. A new group of students from St. Michael’s School, UK has recently sent their partner students here letters of introduction, which are to be followed by collaborative activities on the local festivals and lifestyles.
4. The students of classes V and VIII are involved in the activity – The Monster Exchange, wherein they get to participate in a language and art exchange with different schools all over the world. This exchange with Rancho Gabriela Elementary School, Arizona, USA, has borne good results – the students and teachers involved have interacted with their partners through emails and art work and discussed teaching-learning ideas.
5. Pevensey & Westham School, UK has also emerged as one of our active partner schools, wherein 4 year old students of Mont. I are involved in Art Exchange with their partners. We have received their drawings of the surrounding areas of the school, pictures of their Christmas celebrations and we have sent them our students’ work on Children’s Day and World Food Day to name a few.
6. We have embarked on a cultural exchange program with Hurst Hill Primary School, UK. The students have exchanged information on local festivals and are currently in the process of sending across traditional Indian stories.
7. The Primary students are involved in an ‘Exchange Your Local Flowers’ activity with Abington High School, UK. They have sent their projects and are awaiting their partners’ reply.
8. The Royal Commonwealth Society organized ‘The Commonwealth Essay Competition’ in March 2009. 16 of our students’ entries were submitted in the 4 given categories. The result for the same is awaited.
9. We are currently also involved in an Art Exchange Program for teenagers with the University of Pennsylvania . The students have had interactive sessions with their teachers and have started interacting on a blog created for them to share their concerns. Finally, they will be sending their collaborative art work to their partner group and receiving theirs in turn.
VISITS TO THE SCHOOL CAMPUS
1. Mr. J.C.F. Jayawardan, Vice Principal, Trinity College, Kandy, Sri Lanka visited the school on 13th February, 2009. He was keen on developing school links through student exchange programs and visits. He was very impressed by the school curriculum and campus.
2. Ms. Katie Coleborn and Ms. Emily Connors, who have passed out of Riding High School, UK were on a visit TO BBPS, Pitampura from 18th to 22nd March, 2009. They interacted with the students of Classes II, VI, VII, VIII, IX and XII, exchanging information about their cultural identities and lifestyles. They visited Hyderabd along with a group of class II students. They also attended a workshop at the Traffic Training Park along with a group of our students.
